So, these next few were definite "labors of love", as they took SO much time to create!
I love the idea, but 1) am not a fan of cutting, and 2) painting wasn't a better solution.
First got this idea for my 100 Days of Neon challenge on IG. Saw a b/w version on Pinterest and decided to add color to mine. Can be easily created digitally.
For Janet's I did the whole cut & paste thing. The main challenge, was trying to place the neon color keys in the right spots. That, and the layered look, as the neon keys looked weird on top of the white ones til I added another layer or color. Maybe cutting out part of the white keys to have the neon ones fit better?
Wish I had either printed her name or did it smaller.
This one went to Jean (all 3 got the same insert but altered versions/colors).
I painted on the white keys this time and cut out the neon ones (for a flatter look). Used white india ink and such a pain, as I had to keep adding layers (and then I kept messing up).
No room for her name on the front, so I put it on the back (which I kinda like! -- #happyaccident!)
I also had a mishap with my ink! (leave it to me...one of the many times I've spilt in my art room. 😖)
So, tried to make it into an abstract design. Kinda wish I had added color to match the front.
*Jean really liked it though, as I got an email from her:
This to Shannon is way prettier in-person. Decided to do something different. Was originally going to do neon brights again, but then decided on metallics (to match her name).
I did the white keys with a poster nib and india ink.
If I ever redo this idea, I really need to come up with an easier way.
