bday to Yvonne (red), SMC

Was unsure of how to do Yvonne's so I started with on of my Crayola gel markers, but it was a fail so I had to outline with Black Sparkle ink.

I then added "happy birthday" and "to you" on the sides of the env. borders, then colored-in with teal, white and yellow. Then added the matching dark teal stamp! (I love this color-combo.)

happy bday

to you (b4 adding color)

Tried to make a matching insert.

did "make a wish" on the side.

bday design to Natalie (SMC)

for this one, I tried matching the design on the card I created years ago.

I then lettered various b-day wishes within the design.

Did the same with the insert, as "Hello" was what I had lettered on there first.

April to Sharon (yr long exchange)

I had such fun with this name! (can you tell?)

For the env. I used a pp and white ink and for the letter, one of my callig markers.
I debated about coloring-in the white as it seemed to plain but then i was also worried about ruining it as I loved the simplicity of it too.

Same with the insert (but it didn't turn out quite like i wanted)

I could have connected the o to the r but too much design.

Green Owls to Darlene

This was for the SMC bday list and Darlene had put she liked the colors green and blue and owls. SO here is what I sent!

Automatic pen with white India ink

owl quote

and a blue owl on the back!

Masking to Nele

I created this for Nele a few years back. Tried using my masking fluid and folded pen for her name, but it's a bit tricky as I don't have the hang of it just yet. So, I outlined in gold to help it stand out more.

Used a Posca pen for her last name.
And b/c of what all I sent her, I felt I had to add on more postage to ensure delivery. Although both stamps went rather well, I always like to use just one.

I sent this insert where I used negative space, not masking. It started out as a K but I made it into a word.

Be kind to your mind.

Might have to try more masking techniques!

Bday to Nele

So, it looks like I forgot to take a final pic of Nele's env. (of course!) but I had to use 2 stamps b/c of what all I sent. I used a reg. int'l on (the orange-ish floral one) and then I think a holiday one.

Anyway, I did the altered K Caps and a matching bday insert as well as a combo bday/New Year's booklet (and the 2026 HNY insert from the fp blog: https://foldedpenfan.blogspot.com/2026/01/happy-new-year.html )

Lettering for bday insert is a bit off (need to work on that!)

close ups.
The paper for the env is homemade and flimsy, so it was tricky to letter on (some of the inks bled n-- the E) but not too bad! (I love the N!)

Love the K and the AE ligature as well as my R

the border is happy birthday in gold pp with color pencil (I tried to make it look like the northern lights but failed) and I used a scrap of the same paper from the env.
The block lettering is the RENT lyrics from Season's of Love (which I used as the spread).

Elf to my oldest

A bit of a different take on the Elf theme!

Last year, when attending Julie W.'s online holiday party, I sketched out my son's name, trying to be creative with the A and I noticed that it resembled an elf foot (shoe). So, I knew I'd be doing something similar for him with it this C'mas!

Love how I could make the X match too.

The env. started out as just a design and I thought I'd just add a name but nothing fancy. But his name could be bigger as a design itself. I also planned to do a matching insert using the same design as the env. but then I incorporated the Buddy the Elf theme (again, using the legs in the lettering).

And I had to get "funny" on the back!

Hoping he gets a good laugh from it.  😄😆

Nele (neg. space)

Nele sent me a really cool design based on negative space, so i thought I'd send one in return! This one has been sitting in my "Nele" folder for a few years (or more! :D ) and I found it perfect as I used masking fluid to create her name. I then outlined with gold to help it stand out more.

At first, I had planned to use just the int'l. mum stamp, but I sent her a lot this time so i wanted to make sure I had enough postage. (I'm not a fan of multiple stamps on my env.'s just b/c I'm not that great with incorporating them into my designs.) The "fun" one though went SO perfect with the colors!

I also sent her this little w/c creation I started years ago. It was just a K for the longest time (for my last name) but then I finished to make this quote. (Although it doesn't quite match the env. it still goes with the theme!)

I also sent her a fall quote done in altered Killian Caps and one of my Erasure Poems.

WC Pumpkins on black

I've done similar env.'s like this before ( https://snailmailingmadness.blogspot.com/2021/10/another-redo-metallic-pumpkins-to-nanski.html ) so, i decided to do for Lynne.

just good 'ole metallic watercolors!

I think the stamps distract.  :(

The splatters add a lot.

And a multi-color leaf for the back

Close up.

Insert to match.
I messed this up and am so bummed b/c now it's warped. But glad I was able to "fix" it. I took my Erasure Poetry art and just wrote in script, following the same layout, then added a 3d leaf (after trying to watercolor directly on the insert first - which was a fail!)

close up of 3d leaf and splatters!

Before adding splatters
