Wintry to Nava

This is a converted env. where I had lettered "Snow" with a folded pen and tried to also draw a snowflake (from one found online).  So glad I bought the snowflake stamps too!

Back flap

I also sent her a mini book I tried to fashion from a failed lettering piece, but it was rather flimsy and not the best. However, some parts are very fun!

I love the cover. When trying to paint over the lettering, I didn't like how it was going so I added "WINTER" on vellum (K Caps), plus a couple of snowflake stickers.

This quote was a fail (need to work on my spacing!!)

and I LOVE this spread!!! My lettering turned out awesome (I must say. ;)

And the back page. The sticker kept coming off.  :/

Back cover. Not the best.

Bday/ Vday to Dominique

Dominique shares her bday with my youngest so I thought that was a bit fun.
Because they're both so close to Vday, I decided to do a combo theme for her.

This was a failed lettering piece so I converted! (I cannot remember what I wrote in the t space area but I'm sure it was bday related.)

Before. It's the word, "romantic" and I then added, "Live a" and "Life" to create a quote.

Live a Romantic Life full of Love.

another funky repurposed red env.

I cannot believe another Cmas season has come and gone. I still may decorate a few to have for next year as I'm not quite done with the holiday season yet (being sick does that!) but for now, here is one I converted a few years ago.

There was a name lettered in italic (black marker) which i didn't like, but I had saved for a Cmas sample. I decided to cover up with a funky design and I must say, it looks pretty good!

So far, it just black with gold and white accents. Think I'll keep it that way, as I'm afraid of ruining it if I add more color. Some 3d elements added are puff paint, and a paper square.

Now that I'm looking at it, I have a feeling I sent this out but not sure to who... (I looked through my posts and no luck either). Hmmm....

ANYway...

Happy Snail Mail Saturday! (and New Year/ 2026!)

"Sweet Dreams" converted

Cannot remember why I lettered this, but once again, decided to turn this into another converted envelope!

Horizon nib and walnut ink.

Like Juliana's, I forgot to take a final pic so Jean obliged me and sent me one.
Again, I used a hummingbird stamp.

I added fall-like watercolors and filled in some spaces with pieces from book pages.

I thought about cutting out a space for the address (like I did with Jean's W:  https://snailmailingmadness.blogspot.com/2025/09/abcs-of-autumn.html ) but decided against it, hoping it arrives ok and without extra postage! (which it did -- see below!)

3d leaf on the back. Wash going to color in the others (drawn) but i liked as is (plus, I was tired of coloring in leaves!)

"Comfort" converted

This piece was for my 100 Days of Redos in late 2021. I tried to emulate the word "Comfort" I saw lettered on Pinterest and then, decided to convert to an env. for Fall!

Love how it turned out, except my delicate drawn leaves got lost in the design (so when i tried to make them stand out by going over with a gel pen, they lost their "delicate" nature! -- waaaa.)

Loved lettering her name.

Another added detail -- the book art piece (love the words within!)

Before

"May you find Comfort from within."

You can kind of see the delicate leaf on the back here.

abracadabra to Shannon

I had fun with this but am not happy with her name (Wish I had done a pointed pen version of some kind. At the same time, i find her name harder & harder to letter. I think it's b/c of the double letters.)

This was an old sheet of scrapbook paper (see below) so I decided to convert. Used my Ruling Writer and sumi ink to letter "abracadabra", then in gold script added words from Shakespeare's "Song of the Witches". After that I watercolored over and added the same colors within the big word with color pencils.
Easy to dupe for next year but will do a folded insert to match.

finished envelope before addressing

I created another fall-themed mini book (The ABC's of Autumn) trying to pen a poem as well, but beings the poem was an afterthought, it didn't turn out. I need to re-work.

Flip side!

ABC's of Autumn...

This is an old (OLD) practice sheet where i just lettered the alphabet (i think I used my Horizon nib). Wish I knew how long ago I did it but I can tell it's old by the shape of some of my letters. (and, of course, i forgot to take a before pic!)
Anyway, i decided to convert into an env. as now, i finally figured out a way to create space for the address! (without using a sticker and chancing it falling off)

Wish I had cut out a bigger hole, but i think this will do, as I'm sure the contrasting color helps. Not enough room for the name but that's ok as I like how it fits nicely under the "h-i" ("hi Jean")!  😊

I added words in pp lettering (metallic ink) to coordinate with each letter (most of them) -- "football, fall, gourds, hayrides (used the i for the i in 'rides'), kindness, leaves, maize, November, October, raking, tricks, treats". I also added some fall-like colors then a 3d leaf, which actually blends in so well, you can barely tell unless pointed out! 😏

And then, just for fun, I added pieces of book pages to fill in other empty areas (and to go with the Erasure poetry insert). I just hope they stay on!

Close ups:

The "hi JEAN"

the 3d leaf

I thought I had a pic before adding the stamps (so you could see the "full effect") and will post if I can find as the stamps almost blend in too.

Back side with another 3d leaf.

More words: "autumn, apples, bonfires, crisp, everything". I left xyz plain (couldn't think of any words) and bummed I didn't think to do "cider donuts" for c & d as I couldn't come up with a d word. (delicate? as in delicate leaves? Dainty? Delicious -- apples?) drats, darn, dang it.

This is a "before" pic without the stamps and book art. Also forgot to take a full pic of the alpha page before converting. I feel like the leaf stamps were a bad choice, as they seem to get lost in the design (or maybe that's a good thing? 😄)

Square env. to Shannon

So, I know I tried to cover up her address within the "tree", but forgot about the bottom. Which is OK, as her address is public b/c of the mail art call in 2020. (Just had to point that out!)

The address and name didn't quite work out in the tree shape, as I probably didn't plan it out as well as I should have. However, it's still nice!
(I wanted to include the address again at the bottom, just to ensure delivery. Esp. this time of year!)

with a letter and a fun way I did her name.

Then, I made her this minilope from a page of the po catalogue.

Included a brush tree to match!

Did this a few years ago, and touched up for her.

Finally, I re-gifted a pretty bookmark to her, as I'm a big e-reader now, and I know Shannon reads.
