Bday/ Vday to Dominique

Dominique shares her bday with my youngest so I thought that was a bit fun.
Because they're both so close to Vday, I decided to do a combo theme for her.

This was a failed lettering piece so I converted! (I cannot remember what I wrote in the t space area but I'm sure it was bday related.)

Before. It's the word, "romantic" and I then added, "Live a" and "Life" to create a quote.

Live a Romantic Life full of Love.

Misc. Cmas

Did these a few years ago. So many ways to do, and also can be used for b-day as well as New Year's.
Now looking at them, they don't seem that great to me. Oh well. A for attempt!

another funky repurposed red env.

I cannot believe another Cmas season has come and gone. I still may decorate a few to have for next year as I'm not quite done with the holiday season yet (being sick does that!) but for now, here is one I converted a few years ago.

There was a name lettered in italic (black marker) which i didn't like, but I had saved for a Cmas sample. I decided to cover up with a funky design and I must say, it looks pretty good!

So far, it just black with gold and white accents. Think I'll keep it that way, as I'm afraid of ruining it if I add more color. Some 3d elements added are puff paint, and a paper square.

Now that I'm looking at it, I have a feeling I sent this out but not sure to who... (I looked through my posts and no luck either). Hmmm....

ANYway...

Happy Snail Mail Saturday! (and New Year/ 2026!)

Nov. to Dominique

Another L. Doctor inspo!

I also did a version of Killian Caps for her name.

Back side (again more K. Caps)

Fall-themed (Late fall?) to Lina

This env. is also inspired by my L. Doctor class ( https://foldedpenfan.blogspot.com/2025/07/day-4-speak-to-me-patterns.html ). I have such fun with this idea!

I love how her named turned out (although a bit hard to read) -- altered Killian Caps!

with stamp

I first lettered an original poem ("As Summer Fades...") using metallic ink and a pp, added more autumn quotes then added more lettering with Sepia India ink (ruling pen), and then did a wash with my Ferris Wheel Press ink (Stroke of Midnight).

I pasted a small 3d leaf to oppose the masked out one.

Added another 3d leaf on the back. (it's so dark !

i tried to lighten it a little so you could see the lettering ("autumn")

I wanted to use these same colors (as in the class), but am now afraid it looks more like winter. (however, I sent in November and winter is coming up!)

"Collage" env. (to Christy)

Used my Laurie Doctor inspired layouts for this env.
I did the cut out leaf masking technique, my grease pencil, connected caps, script writing and gel pen with Ferris Wheel Press ink. Was happy the ink held up on the paper!

Bats to Kate R.

I finally bought some bat stickers instead of painstakingly trying to draw them. The bigger ones aren't too tough to draw -- it's the smaller ones. However, these stickers are not that small.
Anyway, still fun to decorate!

I added a moon with lettering ("Bad Moon Rising" lyrics) then some charcoal pastel to get that spooky feeling.
Easy peasy Halloween idea!

The enclosure started out as an env. insert for a clear envelope but it didn't work (didn't show up enough). I used 3d "googly" eyes. Hope she likes!

And the back side. Wish I had done "Boo" in a slime font. Will have to try that next year!

Scarecrow to Nanski

This is a bit of a fail however others may see it as cute...
I tried to re-purpose a Halloween stamp, using it as the head for the scarecrow, but my drawing wasn't quite up-to-par. (At times I wish I could get back into my drawing but I love lettering too much!)
I will say though I really like how the leaf stamps go oh-so-well! A nice offset without being distracting; almost adding to the design.

And some close ups, as the hat is 3d too.

Abstract for Fall

My idea for this was better than how it turned out. BUT hopefully it resembles a breezy fall day!

I first lettered some fall-themed words (in pointed pen), then put a wash of walnut ink over and lastly, added some 3d leaves.

Back side with another (bigger) 3d leaf.

I forgot to take a pic with the stamp so Juliana was kind enough to send me one!

I didn't use the postcard fall leafs as I was saving them for October so I used one final hummingbird. I thought the colors went very well together. (Plus, hummingbirds are still around in Sept!)  ;)

ABC's of Autumn...

This is an old (OLD) practice sheet where i just lettered the alphabet (i think I used my Horizon nib). Wish I knew how long ago I did it but I can tell it's old by the shape of some of my letters. (and, of course, i forgot to take a before pic!)
Anyway, i decided to convert into an env. as now, i finally figured out a way to create space for the address! (without using a sticker and chancing it falling off)

Wish I had cut out a bigger hole, but i think this will do, as I'm sure the contrasting color helps. Not enough room for the name but that's ok as I like how it fits nicely under the "h-i" ("hi Jean")!  😊

I added words in pp lettering (metallic ink) to coordinate with each letter (most of them) -- "football, fall, gourds, hayrides (used the i for the i in 'rides'), kindness, leaves, maize, November, October, raking, tricks, treats". I also added some fall-like colors then a 3d leaf, which actually blends in so well, you can barely tell unless pointed out! 😏

And then, just for fun, I added pieces of book pages to fill in other empty areas (and to go with the Erasure poetry insert). I just hope they stay on!

Close ups:

The "hi JEAN"

the 3d leaf

I thought I had a pic before adding the stamps (so you could see the "full effect") and will post if I can find as the stamps almost blend in too.

Back side with another 3d leaf.

More words: "autumn, apples, bonfires, crisp, everything". I left xyz plain (couldn't think of any words) and bummed I didn't think to do "cider donuts" for c & d as I couldn't come up with a d word. (delicate? as in delicate leaves? Dainty? Delicious -- apples?) drats, darn, dang it.

This is a "before" pic without the stamps and book art. Also forgot to take a full pic of the alpha page before converting. I feel like the leaf stamps were a bad choice, as they seem to get lost in the design (or maybe that's a good thing? 😄)

And here it is delivered:
