Nele, Snail & new "technique"

I did this back in Sept/Oct for my 21 Days Challenge (21 days of brush lettering) and came up with a bit of a new "technique" -- I letter the words close together, so they can connect, and then, color in the space between.

Snail themed env. and rainbow colors.

brush insert and same idea

Mini env. w/brush lettering again.

delicate "flowers" to abby

I'm still in my Spring-y theme mode, so I did these pointed pen flower (grass?) letters for Abby. (mixture of akim too)

I mixing up my "Alpha Garden" letters! love how they turned out.

Without stamp. So much prettier in-person.

close up. Metallic ink.

Love this one!

And the insert. Another "nearly there" piece, as I'm unhappy with the dotted flight line of the bee and the bee itself. Grrrr. (A for effort.) 😉

And just for fun, the before pic:

Hello mr. Snail...

My art desk is rather "big", however, it's so covered with art supplies (that I use every day -- I struggle with finding a home for everything), that there is only a rather small area for me to work.

The other day, when moving items out of the way, I see this little mark, which looked like a snail. 🐌

What do you think?  😄

Thought it cute, funny and appropriate b/c of my huge snail mail passion.

"Snail" mail to Jean

Was pretty happy with how this one turned out!

The J is just a tad hard to make out, but the n... Looks like a clown shoe!  😄

The inspo (found on IG) is below.

not quite a remake, but my own take. (I just loved this!)

And speaking of "Snail" mail...

...this is one I did last year for a mail art call. I was super-thrilled with how it turned out! I really want to do another to some exchangers, but have not made the time.

And this was my inspo! (Looks like a snail, no?)

Snail theme to Bridget (Australia)

I'm low on int'l. stamps, so I decided to combine 2 70-centers for this env. to Australia.

Love how her name turned out, but my snail...not-so much.

LOVE how her name in blue turned out! Used a brush marker (was trying to match the blue color in the stamps) and so glad I thought to do yellow for the dot above the i.

Back side. Used a fun sticker courtesy of Lauren in CA! Thanks!!

"Snail" Mail! :D

Pinspo idea. Tried to recreate with textured paper, but not that great. I still like it though and love how well the butterfly stamp went with it!

You can't tell (even close up), but I embossed the dots of the antenna).

Did a card to match (printed off the from Pinterest via etsy).

original idea, but env. too small. Glad I switched to a square one, so I didn't feel like I wasted postage!

And did a watercolor one! Was going to be an insert but made into a postcard instead.

Snail Calligram

Ok, brag time!! I am so, so SO proud and happy with how this turned out!! I got the idea on Pinterest from this:  https://www.pinterest.com/pin/284993482656912266/ . When I first saw it, I thought it could easily be transformed into a snail (for "Snail Mail"!) and it's been in my ideas folder for a while now. SO thought it a perfect time to try and create! (Plan to do for some of my pen pals as well.) And how lucky that the stamp goes!

I was beyond thrilled it turned out (esp. since I'm so impatient to doing "planning" sheets/trial runs first). Although I included the address in the bottom part of the snail's body, I decided to write it out as well, to make delivery easier.

Here is the wording, starting inside the small circle part of the shell:
"Snail mail is a huge passion of mine. It's such a fun hobby for me. I love sending envelopes lettered creatively, but decorated ones are fun too. I love to letter names big. It also makes me happy to know they're enjoyed."
Body of snail:
"I am so grateful for my art especially during this time. It gets my mind off negativity and my other worries. Please deliver to: ..." and then I write out the address.

"Snail" mail to Janet

Another Pinterest inspired idea:

I tried matching the colors to the stamp, but not real thrilled with it. Also, this turned out bigger than I planned, therefore her name is not the central focus (which, I prefer). And, of course, I came up with a better (more fun) idea after applying the stamp. (So, maybe I'll have to send her a 2nd one!)

Here is the back with a little note:
