So FUn! (from IG)

I came upon these somehow from Instagram, and how fun and creative!

Can I just say how F-U-N these are?!?!?! So easy, yet SO creative!!

I always feel a bit uneasy sharing things from others on my blog (for some reason it's easier on fb), but these were just too cute not to share.

Would love to receive one! (Maybe I'll try to duplicate some day?)

Actually, here is her website where she sells them. (she also has some cool drawings on instagram where she takes a few characters and makes them asian -- fun!)

Books font (to Me)

For my love of books:  Found this font on Pinterest, and because I don't have the patience to draw it, I created it on my computer and made an envelope from it.

Although I prefer hand-lettered envelopes to computer-generated ones, this font is too fun not to use. (and one could add 3d embellishments to it, or more lettering over it.)

Thought I'd create and share in honor of the DM Book Festival going on tomorrow!

Thornton to Dana

This was for one of my year-long exchanges. I love how it turned out.

Hand drawn button alpha. Color pencil fill in.

No pic with real stamp, but I'm pretty sure I used this.

Back accidents.  :/

Here is an insert I did for her, that I may mount on black paper:

"D" for Dana!

Here are her comments from an email:
"Hi Leslie, just got home and found your envelope in mailbox. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I’ve been out of town for a few days, and was expecting a bunch of bills in my mailbox, but found just your envelope. It’s wonderful! I will be showing it to everyone this week! The enclosure with my initial was great! I’ve been playing around with something similar, so that was a special treat."

Bleach on Astrobrights to Penny (Australia)

Was experimenting with how to write her name, and I must've forgot, as I did it differently on the env.  I'd like to send to her, but it's too big to fit. May try scanning onto a letter. (If postage weren't so high, I'd send her a 2nd env.)

original experiment w/Ruling Writer

Bleach on Astrobright paper w/pink and black accents. Assuming I used green int'l. env.

More 3d art

Into making cards again ("Pin-spiration?" -- Pinterest inspo), and did this 3d piece in which I need to mount on card.

Probably could also use somehow for an env. design. (Goals? -- IG "newspeak")  ;D

Abstract Design

Having fun decorating envelopes. Trying to decide who to send to.

Pentel brush pen, Galaxy markers (wish I could still find and buy these!) and ink splatters.
Also some 3d effects.

St. Patty's Postmark (St. Patrick, MO)

Wish I had known about this sooner! (But plan to note for next year.) If it truly does go the whole month, then I'm still going to do it (need to get my env. out today!!)

Will update post when I get mine sent and returned.

I think i need to get back-to-basics with my traditional lettering, as sometimes it turns out, sometimes, it's awful! This isn't "too" bad (done with my new Callipen marker from Dick Blick). Edges aren't as sharp as I'd like, so I used other pens to add detail.

The funny thing about this env. is that I love my printing!

(my penmanship is another thing I struggle with)

Anyway... here is the info on things (sending them an env. and getting the fun postmark)

So, since I don't like how my env.'s turned out, I'm not posting, but WILL share the postmark:

Since I don't like how I lettered my name (drawn uncials), I'm just showing the top with the Postmark. Big, but fun! (Used the B-ball stamp for March Madness theme!)

And here's another view, showing my lettering more shiny/metallic:

Illegibly Abstract lettering and Splatters (to Holly)

Trying to do her name a little funky/("illegibly abstract" if you will?), then kept adding layers upon layers of watercolor splatters and ink blots. Festive and fun!

I like how the address & zip turned out too. No idea what stamp I used!

Versals to Grace H

St. Patty's Day themed one with hand-drawn versals.
Notice the small shamrocks. No idea what stamp I used.

watercolor card pieces

I've always done abstract watercolor pieces for cards, but recently, have been adding more design to them. They look much better in person, vs. photo.

This piece is a perfect example. It's a finished card I made ages ago (not even sure when, but more than 7 years ago), and when I found it in my box of "Cards To Finish", it was just a watercolor piece with the gem (and some metallic highlights. Even though it looked nice, I thought, "It needs more. Looks too plain." (which it wasn't, but I'm just so use to layering now)

After adding the glitter, not sure I like as much. #lessismore #keepitsimple

Still, not bad to send out!

Decorated White Envies

 Some old, some new...

Top: Handmade w/embossing

Middle:  Brush pen

Bottom: Emulated a design I saw online. Glue or puff paint (can't remember which, as I did it probably 5 years ago).

Not sure how I will finish decorating or address any of them. Will probably do the name small so as not to take away from the design.

I love decorating envelopes, but then I can't do the name in a fun way.

Celebration stamp on purple

This stamp worked so well on the one to Philip ( https://snailmailingmadness.blogspot.com/2019/02/red-with-celebration-stamp.html ) that I decided to do the same thing on a diff. color env.

Not liking how I did the name, but not too bad (still getting use to lettering with my folded pen).

Backside Hello! (Pointed brush pen and bleach)
It's always fun to use bleach (although messy and tricky!) just to see how the paper takes it. This turned out pretty well!

Drawn uncial caps to Gloria (Australia)

Last month I posted an envelope I was working on for Gloria (year-long CS exchange) that I have since deleted, as I was not quite happy with it. I've been so into my ruling writer lately, that it seems I've been using it for all my exchange envies, so I decided to do her name differently, which I was having trouble with, as I just wasn't liking any alpha I tried.

I had this poinsettia one leftover from Cmas, so thought I'd use on Gloria's to go along with the red. Much better than the ugly green one. Perfect with red diamond over "i" and other red accents.

When I first did this with white, I wanted to use lots of color, but I feel as though I'm doing that on all my envies too, so decided to just go with one accent color. I didn't know what color to use, so finally decided on red for "i" dot.
