Itsy Bitsy Spider to Shannon

This piece was originally intended to be an insert, but then I got the idea to turn it into an envelope instead. (And lucky for me, there was enough white space for the address!)

I added spiders with a Q-tip.

No Halloween-ish stamp to match, so used this one b/c of the colors. (not bad!)

Here is a before pic where you can see the Weaver writing (gouache) and overlapping words of the song.

Back flap.

Close-ups of spiders:

*for the eyes, I added white ink first, then the black dots. This was all an accident, as at first (as you can see above), I just used black dots for the eyes. Didn't like the look of that, so I tried adding the white, THEN figured out it works best if I add the white first!

Overall, pretty darn happy with how it turned out -- Fun!  :)

Imagine Tie-Dye to Janet

In Sept., I came up with an idea called the "Imagine Project" to honor the 40th anniv. of John Lennon's death on Dec. 8. I will post all my creations on my other blog:  , and until that time, you can check out my dailies on my IG account:  https://www.instagram.com/olovey1/

I also did a few envelopes with some leftover Lennon stamps I still had (wish I could buy more, as I keep getting ideas!) and here are the last few I sent out:

I created this card a few years ago (posted on my other blog), and had the tie-dye env. to match. I couldn't come up with a clever way to letter her name (to go with the theme) so I just did this funky folded pen alpha I've been playing with lately.

Converted Gratitude piece to Mail Art Stories

This Gratitude piece didn't turn out, so I fashioned it into an envelope:

This one says, "We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude." (white writing on the left side; Gratitude is bigger in black; 3d design over "i" dot)

Backside

I cannot get over how well the stamp matches! What a pleasant "surprising" happy accident! (esp. since I'm not liking the these pink int'l. stamps very well)
