Flowers to Cathy O

This idea was mainly dictated by the stamp b/c of the color.

Although I like it for the most part, I feel like I messed it up by adding the blue flower. (was trying to add more color) -- wish I had just made it into a 3d leaf instead.

Pointed pen for name. Folded pen for "Welcome Spring!" (also, wish I would have incorporated the stems as more of the l in Welcome)

Better lighting for name.

Enclosures.

Close up of 3d flowers.

Before pic. (Really like this!)

More close-ups

Insert. Was just a trial piece, spelling out Spring in 3d akim lettering.

Hello mr. Snail...

My art desk is rather "big", however, it's so covered with art supplies (that I use every day -- I struggle with finding a home for everything), that there is only a rather small area for me to work.

The other day, when moving items out of the way, I see this little mark, which looked like a snail. 🐌

What do you think?  😄

Thought it cute, funny and appropriate b/c of my huge snail mail passion.

"Flowers" to Amy

I've been having such fun creating "word flowers" (inspired by Patrick Stahel on IG: https://www.instagram.com/p/C3ct-2KCI4w/?img_index=2 ).

Did one for Amy this month in a couple diff. ways.

The flower on the env. says, "hello amy fox". Used my pointed pen and metallic acrylic ink.
Love how it turned out!
(also, can you see the little "hi" on the stem?)

At first, I was going to leave with no color, as I was afraid of ruining it. But then decided to add yellow, safely. ;)

I then did one for her letter.

It's says, "lovely amy".

Closer

and I did my alpha garden flowers for her name on the letter.

Rainbow (b nib) to Shannon (and mini to Lina)

Last (for now) of my Rainbow envies.

B-nib and India ink w/pastels. PP for name.

on the back, a name flower ("hi shannon")

i totally missed sending an env. to Lina for March (too much other sh*t going on), so I included a mini-one to her.

A name flower (coming up -- see Amy's) on a small blank card.
pp and metallic ink, but the ink feathered. (grrr.) So, I had to outline in marker.
It says, "lovely lina" with a "hello" in the stem.

pp name.

Rainbow to Giova (IG Hello Stranger)

This one didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, but sent anyway (one of those "nearly there's"! 😆)

Watercolor for rainbow, then pp on top for quote (and name).
Dancing Caps and akim for insert.

close up

*btw, the theme for this was Inspirational Quotes.

FP Rainbow (IG exchange)

SO happy to have come upon Dominique's IG monthly exchange (Snail Mail Collective):

Horizon fp & india ink for rainbow, then pastels.
PP and metallic ink for name.

With insert. Didn't turn out and I'd envisioned -- would have been better with white ink, i think.
The torn w/c part is Spring written in 3d akim.

3d name to Nele (breathe)

I know I sent Nele a 3d name env back in 2020, but this time, was trying to match it to both the "breathe" insert and the waves one.

puff paint gestural

env. with inserts.

Did the breathe piece last year. Bottom piece is from my Make Your Mark class with Julie W. Thought it looked like a B, so I sent to Nele b/c of her last name.

My waves piece (again from Julie's class). 3D waves and quote in metallic.

St. Patty's theme to Karen

Karen is from my PenPalentines group, and I got the loveliest env. from her. Thought I'd write back to see if she was interested in exchanging regularly. (Plus, I wanted to copy this env. I found on Pinterest! -- https://www.pinterest.com/pin/284993482658637351/ )

Had such fun with this.

Close up. Color pencils and 3d sparkles.

With w/c insert from 2020. (Name on letter didn't quite turn out, as my callig marker is worn.)

FP "flowers" to Chuck

Got this lovely handmade env. (handmade paper) from one of my PenPalentines, so I thought I'd send to Chuck. It's lovely paper, and wanted to make sure I did it justice.

Used my slant-tip Parallel Pen to make the grasses (w/India ink), and a Q-tip w/neon ink for the "flowers". I messed up his name a bit, but not too bad.

I love it w/out the stamp, and sadly, had to cover up the top flower, but had fun with the placement. (Makes me wish I had done all the flowers like a lily.)

Green fp to Cathy

This was a Sept. env....Tried to match ink to stamp colors.

Slant tip Parallel pen.

Trying to use collage pieces as a "sticker" for flap.
(and I like my italic)

Included trial piece of her name as I like how turned out.

*Side Note:
Although I love to send snail mail because it's a fun creative hobby for me, getting these types of comments from my exchangers/recipients is just the icing on the cake!! 💓💓💓

Happy Bday, Dr. Seuss!

Today is Dr. Seuss's b-day. He was born in 1904 (same year as my paternal grandma). 😊
(and no, I'm not "that" old...she had my dad later in life.) 😁

So, in honor of the children's author, I did a theme to Nele. Used fun lettering for both quotes.

B-nib for name & address (well, the country).

I love the top red piece. Hope she "gets" the cut outs! (stand out/cut out)
