Wintry to Nava

This is a converted env. where I had lettered "Snow" with a folded pen and tried to also draw a snowflake (from one found online).  So glad I bought the snowflake stamps too!

I also sent her a mini book I tried to fashion from a failed lettering piece, but it was rather flimsy and not the best. However, some parts are very fun!

I love the cover. When trying to paint over the lettering, I didn't like how it was going so I added "WINTER" on vellum (K Caps), plus a couple of snowflake stickers.

K Caps to Jillian (SMC bday)

continuing on with my K Caps, I did a fun variation for Jillian's bday env. And I lettered in teal ink to match the stamp. (pink and teal fun!)

Masking to Nele

I created this for Nele a few years back. Tried using my masking fluid and folded pen for her name, but it's a bit tricky as I don't have the hang of it just yet. So, I outlined in gold to help it stand out more.

Used a Posca pen for her last name. 

And b/c of what all I sent her, I felt I had to add on more postage to ensure delivery. Although both stamps went rather well, I always like to use just one. 

I sent this insert where I used negative space, not masking. It started out as a K but I made it into a word.

Be kind to your mind.

Might have to try more masking techniques!

Nele (neg. space)

Nele sent me a really cool design based on negative space, so i thought I'd send one in return! This one has been sitting in my "Nele" folder for a few years (or more! :D ) and I found it perfect as I used masking fluid to create her name. I then outlined with gold to help it stand out more.

At first, I had planned to use just the int'l. mum stamp, but I sent her a lot this time so i wanted to make sure I had enough postage. (I'm not a fan of multiple stamps on my env.'s just b/c I'm not that great with incorporating them into my designs.) The "fun" one though went SO perfect with the colors!

I also sent her this little w/c creation I started years ago. It was just a K for the longest time (for my last name) but then I finished to make this quote. (Although it doesn't quite match the env. it still goes with the theme!)

I also sent her a fall quote done in altered Killian Caps and one of my Erasure Poems.

Haunted House (reuse of postage)

Every so often I get clever ideas with postage stamps (see my "Match the Stamp" tag) but a lot of times they are after-thoughts and I end up using already canceled stamps.

This is one of them!  ;D

 

i took 2 used Halloween-themed ones (windows -- not sure what they're called) to incorporate into this haunted house (which looks more like just a dilapidated house). A for effort!  ;)

Finished with Day of Dead stamp.

This was a magazine pic and I thought it not only perfect for fall, but that I also have a stamp to match!

I messed up the address (just the state part, NC), but not bad. I love finding near perfect pages like this that work with the address AND stamp!  ;)

Peace to Lina (Aug)

Up to this point, I haven't tried matching the lettering to the stamp with these button ones, so I tried with Lina's and not bad! (I just wish I had done the A in the light blue color, but I wasn't thinking.  :(

"Collage" to Jean (July PTEx)

This env. is inspired by my Laurie Doctor class, "Speak to Me...", as I love this collage "technique".

I loved matching the colors to the stamp, as that made the design easier. (I also added "Have" to the stamp so it would read, "Have Fun". Then below that , "Keep Creating!")

Before pic. You can see where i penned, "Creativity" on the left, then filled in with watercolor. In the middle column, I used metallic ink and wrote some quotes about art and creating, and colored over with teal. Then for the Right Column, I wrote out "art attack" in brush lettering and added more words in-between the letters.

I had fun with it and love how it turned out. I also did another one similar to this that i'll post later!

Teas to Jessica (SMC Swap)

Earlier this year, i participated in a tea swap, and here is what I sent to my swap partner.

Metallic fudebiyori brush marker on shiny gold paper.

 

Split marker to Kate R (Apr. PTEx)

Was at a bit of a loss this month as to what to do for Kate, and then decided to get out my markers!

used an old split-nib callig marker and colored in parts to match the stamp (which went perfect with the env. color)

I also add some elements from the stamp, but in diff. colors.
