Entry 5, P&I (brush letter)

the last of my entries.
I wasn't going to send this, but I love how the env. turned out, and I liked the idea of my letter (although some flaws). So, I sent just for fun.

folded pen and white Ziller ink (LOVE!)

I folded the letter wrong, which is another reason I wanted to redo.
Pentel brush pen for teal ink (w/c) and C nib for orange italic lettering.

Get it? "happy letter writing month" within the letter (the words are part of the letter).

Entry 4, P&I (wc)

(*See Folded Pen blog for Entry 3:

https://foldedpenfan.blogspot.com/2023/04/p-letter.html )

I got the idea (below) when trying to match colors to the stamp. I first did

for Kristine's April PTEx env.

https://snailmailingmadness.blogspot.com/2023/04/wc-decorated-to-kristine-apr-ptex.html

Then, I decided to do for P&I.

Plum watercolor to match the plum color in the stamp. Black an bronze accents.

Extra Fine Pt Posca pen for script lettering.

"Before"-ish pic.

With matching letter.

P&I contest, Entry 2 (Caps)

2nd Entry for the National Letter Writing Contest:

Decorated Caps & Numbers. One of my faves.
White India ink and bronze accents.

With letter.

I alternated the caps in b&w. The squares aren't perfectly measured & lined up, but tried my best.
Also, I never like my penmanship, but again, tried my best with my gel pen.

3d "&" sign (puff paint).

Close up of back (messed up the T)

Did the back address with decorated caps too.

P&I Contest, Letter 1 (Uncial, Paint)

April is National Letter Writing Month, and in honor of that, Paper & Ink Arts is hosting a contest. They are asking that letters be written to them and then they will choose 3 winners: Most Creative, Staff Fave and a Random selection. No idea what the prizes are, but I'd love to win!

I came up with numerous ideas, and submitted about 5. I will publish those over the next few days.
Here is my first entry:

Although my uncial lettering with this didn't turn out as great as I wanted,
I still submitted for the creativity.
Used my chisel-tip paint shaper tool, and acrylic ink. For "Arts", I used my extra fine point Posca pen.

For the letter, I just did matching colors & lettering vs. matching paper. Used my Speedball C-2 nib for the blue (India ink) uncial, and my C-5 nib for the smaller white uncial. Then, I tried to duplicate the acrylic paint at the top (again, in uncial, "hi"), but didn't like, so I added "hello" over it with another extra fine point Posca pen.

WC Decorated to Kristine (Apr PTEx)

I bought these pretty stamps at a local usps but when I got home, realized I didn't have that many env.'s choices. SO, I decided to decorate myself, using matching colors.

I did an abstract design, then used my extra fine pt Posca pen for her name. Although I like it, the s looks like a y! (so, it looks like Krytine. Sigh.)

With a matching insert.

Tracy (Apr. PTEx)

in lieu of Jean this month. Another friend of hers. (hence the same address)

Used my Crayola gel markers, and bronze metallic watercolor to match the colors in the stamp.

Tried to do the same on the back, but for some reason, they weren't showing up. (grrr!) So they got messed up.

With insert

Update:  pic from Jean's blog (i like the vibrancy):

Ming (B-day)

For Ming, I once again I used my white Sakura callig marker pen and uncial lettering.

Did so with the back "From" as well.

Did an insert to match, but don't like.

Cut out Versals to Janet

I did Janet's name to match the insert, but wanted the contrast of the white, so that is why I cut them out vs. lettering right on the env.
I LOVE my tiny little lettering!

Insert that didn't turn out quite as I planned. Was trying to incorporate the word BOOK in the quote somehow, but it didn't work.

BUT I got the fun idea to letter LOVE on the inside ("Book Love")!

(Blurred out my note to her.)

And another book quote (but sent this to Nele).

Folded Pen alpha to Janet

This was a practice sheet I decided to convert into an env. for Janet.

I wanted to use primary colors and have the name stand out but also, go along with the alphabet.

Flip side.
