"Welcome Summer" to Wendy

Created this env. from a piece of printed scrapbook paper. (wish I had more of this, as it was fun to make a card to match!) Took elements from it and made bigger on the card.

Folded pen for lettering.

Before pic.

Although I love this fun script with my folded nib, it seems pretty plain against the background.

I wish I had written her address a bit differently (maybe smaller in the open spaces?) as now I'm worried it won't get to her. Maybe if I make it bolder, that'll up the chances?

I do love how well the stamp goes with it! (not only the color, but the fact it's a veggie)

to Liz (Australia)

For Year-Long exchange.

I had been wanting to do a "hello" env. with a round stamp, but I messed up her name (so I covered up for the photo). I liked how the "hello" turned out, and didn't want to redo, so I tried to make up for it with the insert. (Used my music nib.)

Also, lettered her name on the back.

Watermelons to Rachael

Eunice's env. inspired me to do a watermelon series. Here is one I had fun with.

Did watercolor on the env. and for the card, I cut out papers in an abstract design. For the env. the open spaces between the slices were perfect for the address. Fun summer envie, huh?

Before pic:

Salvaged env. to Carolyn

Wish I had take a before pic of this. It originally started about as lower case "abc...xyz" in the style of Lisa Engelbrecht ( "Experimental Initials":  http://lisaletters.blogspot.com/2011/11/my-turn-great-art-spark-tutorial-begins.html ) that I did years ago. I didn't like it now, so I converted to upper case with my folded pen.

Thought it so fitting for her name with the C.

I then created a name card for her with my red Zig marker.

Cmas in July to Janet

I use to want to celebrate a mini Cmas in July with my boys when they were younger, but now I just do envelopes!

Coit pen on bright green paper.

Diff. lighting and b/4 stamp

Back with seal and my return address in shape of a tree

insert with coit pen (hard to find good white ink)

fixed the backside, as I had written "joy" on it for something else, so i just made designs over it.

Imagine to Robert

This is just one of the many Imagine envelopes I did with the Lennon stamps. Didn't turn out quite like I wanted / envisioned (or "imagined" -- haha), but not too bad.

Finished env. Hate that my ink bled (fine tip marker)

Card insert front.

Back

Back of card in a graffiti style.

"Bouncy" to Janet (Zig marker)

Bright mid-July env. to Janet with tennis ball stamp. Was torn between using the tennis ball stamp and the black Celebration one. Went with the tennis ball one as it's still tennis season!

Bought 2 new Zig brush pen markers, but not loving them. Added neon colors and black outline/accents, which help.

Flip side of env. (I've been trying to make use of the flip side lately, if there's enough room.)

Graffiti to Jean

Jean asked for extra env.'s in the July PTEx email, so I'm obliging!  ;D   There is just something about her name that is so fun. However, this env. isn't an example of that. It's actually reminiscent of an earlier env. idea I tried that failed.

This is another practice sheet where I was testing different tools (pointed brush pen, folded nib, music nib) using my black iridescent ink (I always want to spell iridescent with 2 "r's". Doesn't it look better spelled like this:  irridescent ?)  :D  Then, added neon colors

Then, I added her name and address in tiny print in the open spaces.

Wasn't sure how to position the stamp, so I ended up angling it. Wish i had taken a before pic.

For the back I added a little "hello!" then realized there wasn't room for my return address. I felt that if I used a return add. label, it would take away from the design, so am leaving as is.

I don't like leaving off my return address, in case it doesn't get delivered. But hopefully she'll get it!

I also enclosed a little "hi" notecard using my music nib, and only after I sealed the env. did I remember that I forgot to take a pic of it.  :(  So, just to give you a visual, I used black ink, and colored in with bright colors, trying to match the env.
Maybe I'll try to re-create and post at a later time.

Update:  Actually, she posted it so here are the images and comments.

Cancelled env.

Love how she showcased the flap too (can you see the word "Ruling" on it (for my Ruling Writer).

And the comments:  :)
"Exuberant.
That sums up this envelope.
It's a good idea that could be tailored to fit with any stamp. It's getting the stealworthy label."

"Modern art on an envelope!" (finn’s comment)

***i got the "Stealworthy" label!!! Made my day.  :)

Repeating name, Nele

Saw something similar on Jean's blog (repeating name big) so I used Crayola bright markers (wide tip side) to letter her name. Thought fun, bright colors appropriate for summer and of course, to match the stamp color.

Did the address sideways, so am hoping it goes through ok!

Enclosed this embossed piece I created from an alphabet I've seen online and similar to what Nele has mentioned ("soap" letters.) The alphabet I used (or rather, my variation) is from this I found on Pinterest:  https://www.pinterest.com/pin/284993482656407359/

I cannot find an original, so I have no idea who first created this or what it's officially called. But it's a fun alternative to lettering!

Happy Gilmore

I love these "Have a Ball" stamps, and been having so much fun with them, coming up with ideas (plus, I love the round shape!)

Was so "happy" to find this pic, as I was trying to think of a fun way to use the stamp. At first, I was going to try drawing it, but decided to print out instead. Got the idea in April, but in the summer. #golfseason!

My "clever" saying on the back was, "Hope you have a HAPPY Summer!"

Update:  Well, Jean LOVED it! Here is the cancelled version (which doesn't look canceled at all!) along with her comments:

"Leslie had no idea what a big Adam Sandler fan I am. So, this envelope warranted an email thank you the minute it arrived."

And here is her comments from her email, titled, "Best One Yet":
"Happy Gilmore is my new favorite from you.
My boys played hockey and were at the perfect age when that movie came out.
I love it.
The boys still quote lines from the movie and they are 31 and 35.
I'd quote more lines - but I have forgotten them.
Guess it is time to watch it again."

And one more comment from Lauren in CA:  "Brilliant EP Leslie! Bravo!"  (*I had to ask her what EP stood for! (something Envelope)
