July 4th envies

I got a head-start on these in May, as I had numerous ideas (I get this way with themed and holiday art).

Top to Maureen, Bottom one to Rachael.

Flip side. I really like this (better than the front!) and plan to use next year as the front of an envie, with name lettered to the side.

Card I made to go along with with Maureen's env. (from failed 1st attempt). Used my new Wink of Stella brush pen, but it didn't work well.

Before pics:

Used 3d paint for design and a star stamp (i use this for stars/fireworks and snowflakes)

Black July 4th Celebration to Jean

A different sort of July 4th env., as I attempted a fireworks theme (I hope they still show up when it arrives! -- used glitter gel pens for them.)

Used my white india ink and folded nib for her name, but I'm thinking my pointed brush would have worked better. Not sure yet what stamp to use. Am tempted to use the black "Celebrate" one, but I just used that on the bike one I sent her in May.

The Celebrate insert is a scan printed out and decorated differently (colorful vs. red, white & blue).

I actually had this idea for a different envelope but thought I'd use on this one, just for fun (although it looks a bit Halloween-ish.)

Watermelon to Janet

So am finally sending one of my watermelon envies. Decided to send one to Janet, as I'm late with env.'s to her:

I have to admit, it was a bit hard to give away the card. Lately, I've gotten over that, but when I really like something I create, it's hard for me to part with it. Am hoping she likes it just as much!

I'm not pleased with how I did her name, but I wasn't sure what alpha/font to use. Seems I always want to go back to using my folded nib with her name. Guess I need to start branching out and experimenting more.

Less is More...

ugh, grrr... So, I did this env. and was very happy with it, UNTIL I added the diamond shapes. (Wish I had taken a pic of it before!)

Before adding the diamonds, I thought it looked nice, but "was missing something". Nope. It was just fine as it was. Now, beings I'm unhappy with it, the question is do I send, hoping she'll like? or redo it and waste an envelope? I'm leaning towards redoing, and using my pointed brush instead of my folded nib. #brightside?  ;)

Here is the redo with my pointed brush:
Better, BUT I think I need new white india ink AND more practice with my pointed brush (as I had to go over it to make the white stand out more, and my lines aren't that fine).

This time, leaving as is!

Just for fun

My decorated env. passion can get out of control. I have so many ideas, that I end up creating samples just for fun. If someone would buy postage for me, I would send envelopes to anyone and everyone.

Here is one with a fake address, circles and neon colors:

This was done for my in-laws, but never sent. Used a brush marker, and I only like the k, which is why I saved. Not sure how i mixed in the blue with the purple. (and desperately need to work on my printing!)

A monoline sample. I love how it looks a bit celestial with the white dots added over the blue.

And was just playing in Word -- fun how it looks 3d.

Tools of MY Trade.

Another envie idea (need to redo). Taking some fave tools for an env. design.

Addressed to me (with folded nib).

Here it is after I got it!

And I did the backside with a Pilot Parallel.

July 4th -- "Fireworks" design

For year-long exchange.

The envelope is leftover from one of my other themed env.'s that failed. So I tore out the 3d design and pasted on this one. Looks a bit like fireworks, yes?

with insert.

I actually like it -- looks rather pretty. Her named turned out well too.

Here is another similar one.

Misc. July 4th

These are grouped together, as the top 2 I don't like as well.

The one to Patty was a "mistake" so I tried doing her name over it on pasted on paper, but I just don't like the underneath design anymore. I do, like the idea of the red pasted over.

And Grace's is meh. I used removable take to leave space for her name, but there's something I don't like about it.

Kathie's is close up in another post, and you can view Lauren's below (which I actually do like!)

This was made from an old piece of scrapbook paper, but the stars on it were originally in yellow. At first I tried to color over them in red, but they didn't look right, so then I tried using my star stamp with metallic red, but as you can see, that messed things up more. So, I added glitter accents and decided to use anyway.

Used my folded nib and metallic ink for the name.

Watermelon Series

Got this idea recently, so am creating a few fun summer watercolor envelopes:

Top/small one is my 1st attempt (not the best, as my watercolor skills need some work).
Bigger one underneath is my 3rd one.

Bigger and with a card.
Again, not thrilled with it, but didn't want to redo.
Had to position stamp lower b/c no room.

I just hope it goes through ok with the non-standard postage placement as well as the address (in between slices)!

All 3 so far. I have an idea who I'm sending to, but not sure just yet (hence the addresses penciled in).

Tried to get a little creative (abstract?) with the card this time.
Need to figure out a design for a bigger card.
